The Newfound Regional Bears had to endure a 16-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They breezed by Inter-Lakes on the road to the tune of 49-17 on Tuesday. Newfound Regional's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Despite the loss, Inter-Lakes saw an underclassman step up: Soriya Richards scored four points along with four blocks. It was the first time this season that Richards posted two or more blocks.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Inter-Lakes struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-6) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Newfound Regional's victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-16. As for Inter-Lakes, their loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-15.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newfound Regional will take on Newport at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New Hampshire (Newport is ranked 75th, while Newfound Regional is ranked 82nd). As for Inter-Lakes, they will be playing at home against Winnisquam at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Inter-Lakes focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 on Tuesday.
