Softball Recap: Argonaut Now 9-1 over Last Ten Games

Argonaut came out on top against Union Mine on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Diamondbacks with a sharp 8-1 victory. Considering the Mustangs have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Hailey Dewald spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bailey Baker was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of AJ Schultz, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Argonaut has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Union Mine, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Argonaut will venture away from home to face off against Liberty Ranch at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Union Mine, they will head out on the road to square off against Bradshaw Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
