The West Grand Mustangs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They blew past Vail Christian 70-11 on the road. West Grand has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 26 points or more this season.
West Grand was led to victory by Luci Bruchez and Sage Wheatley. Bruchez dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Wheatley scored 24 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Bruchez scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Holmes, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.
The win was the eighth in a row for West Grand, bringing their record for this year to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Vail Christian, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
West Grand will head out on the road to square off against the Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Olathe is on a four-game streak of home wins, the Mustangs a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Vail Christian will take on the Golddiggers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Clear Creek comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
