Estancia had won three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they bumped up to 10-7 to make it four. They skirted past the Tucumcari Rattlers 7-6. The game was the first time the Bears have beaten the Rattlers on their field since April 16, 2022.

Michael Anaya and Devon Chavez made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Anaya struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Meanwhile, Chavez struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Anaya has posted since back in March. At bat, Anaya went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Chavez went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. Estancia is 9-2 when Chavez posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tarin Cantu, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. Matthew Montoya was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
As for Tucumcari, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10. Rattlers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against Estancia since Wednesday.
Like Estancia, Tucumcari also got a great game from a two-way player: Matthew Gomez. He struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. That's the fewest earned runs Gomez has allowed since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Luis Archuleta was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Derek Insigna, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Estancia wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 15-14 win against Raton on the 24th. As for Tucumcari, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 19-5 victory against Clayton on the 25th.
