They came out on top in a nail-biter against East Hill Christian on Thursday, sneaking past 14-12. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 25, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Gabriel Biagini was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. John DeFore was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Gulf Pointe Latin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
West Florida Baptist Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Gulf Pointe Latin, their victory ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. West Florida Baptist Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Gulf Pointe Latin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
