Pittston has gone 8-2 against Crestwood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Pittston will host Crestwood at 4:15 p.m. Pittston is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Pittston barely beat Old Forge the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Pittston was the clear victor by an 11-3 margin over Old Forge on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won three matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
TJ Johnson looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, Pittston let Chase Montigney and Richard Tonte run wild. Montigney got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Tonte scored a run while going 2-for-3. That triple marked the first that Montigney hit this season. Another player making a difference was Jake Aftewicz, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
Pittston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Old Forge only posted an OBP of .323.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Crestwood ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Wyoming Seminary College Prep, sneaking past 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Comets have posted since April 29, 2024.
Pittston's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Crestwood, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-2.
Everything went Pittston's way against Crestwood in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Pittston made off with an 11-2 win. Will Pittston repeat their success, or does Crestwood has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
