While it was all tied up 28-28 at halftime, the Grove Christian School Falcons were not quite the Denbigh Baptist Christian Minutemen's equal in the second half on Monday. Grove Christian School took a 75-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Minutemen. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Jacob Garrison and Owen Collawn certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Garrison almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine assists, while Collawn dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Garrison has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Braxton Kidd was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Denbigh Baptist Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Claville, who scored 23 points. Another player making a difference was William Showalter, who scored 19 points.
Grove Christian School's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Denbigh Baptist Christian, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-7.
Grove Christian School will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on February 9th. As for Denbigh Baptist Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th.
