The Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers will take on the Seaforth Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bartlett Yancey has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 12.
Bartlett Yancey came up short against Northwood on Monday, falling 15-5.
Bartlett Yancey saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lyndsey Smithers, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Seaforth never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They blew past Northwood 15-0. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by ten runs or more this season.
Emma Grace Hill made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Annika Johansson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Cami Brinkley was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Seaforth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Seaforth's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Bartlett Yancey, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bartlett Yancey has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. However, it's not like Seaforth struggles in that department as they've averaged .442. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bartlett Yancey might still be hurting after the 17-0 defeat they got from Seaforth when the teams last played back in March. Will the Buccaneers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
