After flying high against the Quitman County Hornets on Friday, the Mitchell County Eagles came back down to earth. Mitchell County fell just short of Calhoun County by a score of 44-41. Mitchell County lost against Calhoun County in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 42-36 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Mitchell County had strong showings from Akiria Sessions, who scored 9 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 blocks, and Nyke Lytle, who scored 16 points. Lytle continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Mitchell County's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Calhoun County, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Mitchell County and Early County will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Early County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday. As for Calhoun County, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Dougherty at 6:00 p.m. Dougherty will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
