Tuscola extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 6-9. They came up short against the Shelbyville Rams, falling 13-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Warriors have suffered against the Rams since April 19, 2023.
Kinzie Cleland put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Bayleigh Taylor made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs and one double. Ava Whitson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
As for Shelbyville, they moved to 6-7 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
On Shelbyville's side, Karli Boehm spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits.
On the hitting side, Alexis Jokisch was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aylah Logan, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Tuscola will face off against Sullivan at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Shelbyville, they will venture away from home to challenge Charleston at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
