Valley hasn't had much luck against Albuquerque recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Valley will square off against Albuquerque at 4:00 p.m. Valley has given up an average of 10.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Valley lost 18-6 to Eldorado on Tuesday.
Liliana Roybal and Aaliyah Diggs did some serious damage despite the final result: Roybal scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Diggs went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Brielle Martinez, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Even though they lost, Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Albuquerque got the win against St. Pius X on Wednesday by a conclusive 11-4. Considering the Bulldogs have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Raquel Waldrop made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Yaslene Jimenez, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three doubles, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Annika Stanley also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Albuquerque's record is now 8-6. As for Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
Valley couldn't quite get it done against Albuquerque in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 9-4. Can Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
