Hackett extended the longest winning streak in 2A Region 4 this week by beating Union Christian Academy, 55-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Hornets.
Hackett led the league in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on the Eagles.
Union Christian Academy's dynamic duo of Braxton Smith and Joel Murdock proved tough for Eddie Ray's team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Smith threw for 169 yards and Murdock had 99 yards receiving. Andy Clark helped Union Christian Academy's passing attack out by catching eight balls for 37 yards.
Tynr Johnson made the biggest impact on defense this week as Mountainburg topped Hector. The 6-foot-3 senior recorded one fumble and grabbed 1.0 sack.
Frank James was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 14 carries, he ran for 138 yards as the Dragons fell to the Hornets. Teammate Matthew Dewater added to the ground attack by rushing for 98 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Nathan Jones of Mountainburg is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1238. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. On the ground, the Wildcats' Gus Nichols has rushed for 602 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Hunter Davis. The Hector star has 12 catches for 402 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Tom Harrell's team takes on Hackett. The Dragons' offense has racked up 248 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Hornets have allowed only 29 on the year.
