After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Paintsville, Belfry was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Floyd Central Jaguars an 11-0 shutout. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by eight runs or more this season.
Dante Davis was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zachary Fite, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.
