Cyprus is a perfect 10-0 against Granger since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Pirates will square off against the Lancers at 3:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cyprus has six straight wins, Granger has 16 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Cyprus' pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Hillcrest 13-0. Considering the Pirates have won 13 contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Cyprus got a massive performance out of RENE HIDALGO, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases HIDALGO has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of REINER HIDALGO, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Cyprus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Granger couldn't beat Hunter on Friday even though they stacked seven runs on them in the second inning. The Lancers fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 11-10.
Max Pace made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Royce See also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Cyprus' victory bumped their record up to 18-4. As for Granger, their loss dropped their record down to 3-19.
Granger's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cyprus has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Granger, though, as they've been averaging 9 hits. Given Cyprus' sizable advantage in that area, the Lancers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Cyprus got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 against Granger by a conclusive 13-1 score. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
