Bonny Eagle is 1-9 against Scarborough since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Scots will look to defend their home field against the Red Storm at 4:30 p.m. Bonny Eagle is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Bonny Eagle barely beat Thornton Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Scots' pitcher stepped up to hand the Trojans a 13-0 shutout on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Scots considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Leah Storey was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Catherine Lopresti, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Bonny Eagle hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Scarborough and Westbrook meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Red Storm took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Blazes.
Scarlett Floyd was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Laine Niles also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Bonny Eagle's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Scarborough, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-6.
Scarborough's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bonny Eagle hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. It's a different story for Scarborough, though, as they've only averaged .232. Will they be able to contain Bonny Eagle's hitters?
Bonny Eagle came out on top in a nail-biter against Scarborough in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 9-7. Do the Scots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Storm turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
