Florin hasn't had much luck against Johnson recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Panthers will challenge the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Monday, Florin made easy work of Burbank and carried off a 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won four in a row.
While Florin won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-11, 25-22.
Meanwhile, Johnson entered their tilt with Armijo on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Royals.
Johnson took Armijo into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-20, 26-28, 27-29, 15-10.
Florin better focus on containing Jayden Yang and Luis Montano as the pair were huge in Johnson's win. Yang had three digs and two aces, while Montano had three blocks. The dominant performance also gave Yang a new career-high in assists (27).
Johnson was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least nine aces in three consecutive games.
Florin's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. As for Johnson, their record now sits at 11-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's contest: Florin hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 10 blocks per game. However, it's not like Johnson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.9 blocks. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Florin took their win against Johnson when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
