Softball Recap: Roosevelt Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Roosevelt, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Fresno Warriors on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Rough Riders, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Samantha Rivera, who went 3-for-4 with one triple and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lenna Garcia, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one double.

Roosevelt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fresno only posted an OBP of .333.

Roosevelt's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-12. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Fresno, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roosevelt will take on San Joaquin Memorial at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rough Riders are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Fresno, they will face off against Madera South at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Stallions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.12 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
