It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Colonial Forge Eagles had no problem doing just that on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 49-26 margin over Gainesville. The result was nothing new for Colonial Forge, who have now won eight matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Gainesville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Colton Kilmer, who rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 296 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan McClafferty, who picked up 148 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The win (which was Colonial Forge's fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.0 points per game. As for Gainesville, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-3.
Colonial Forge will take on Freedom at 7:00 p.m. on November 18th. Freedom knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matches -- so hopefully Colonial Forge likes a good challenge. Gainesville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
