The La Grange Leopards will head out on the road to face off against the Gonzales Apaches at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
La Grange unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Giddings by a score of 23-21.
Meanwhile, even though Smithville scored an imposing 33 points on Friday, Gonzales still came out on top. Gonzales took their match against Smithville 45-33. The victory was just what Gonzales needed coming off of a 56-7 defeat in their prior contest.
Gonzales got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cole Duty out in front who threw for 183 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes. Weston Ruddock was in the mix too, providing Gonzales with three touchdowns.
Giddings' victory bumped their season record to 2-6 while La Grange's defeat dropped theirs to 3-5.
Everything came up roses for La Grange against Gonzales in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 50-18 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for La Grange since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
