The Blackfoot Broncos will head out to square off against the Bonneville Bees at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
If Blackfoot beats Bonneville with ten runs on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Broncos walked away with a 10-7 win over Skyline on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Broncos.
Jace Cooper was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two runs and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Cannon, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Blackfoot was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Bonneville entered their tilt with Hillcrest on Tuesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They beat the Knights by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Bees, who have now won 15 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Bonneville also got a great performance from Lincoln Stuart as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits.
At the plate, Taye Lords was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyson Christensen, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Bonneville's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Blackfoot, their record is now 18-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Blackfoot has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bonneville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Blackfoot couldn't quite finish off Bonneville in their previous meeting back in April and fell 7-5. Can the Broncos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
