After only two runs in their last game, Adams Central made sure to put some runs up on the board against Aurora on Saturday. The Patriots put the hurt on the Huskies with a sharp 16-7 victory. Considering the Patriots have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Parker Hodgen looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Liam Dyer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nick Mousel, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Adams Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive contests.

Adams Central has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Aurora, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Adams Central is set to challenge their familiar foe Norris at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Patriots 3.6, the Titans 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Aurora will square off against rival St. Paul/Palmer at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
