North Pitt is on a five-game streak of home losses, Perquimans a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Having just played yesterday, the North Pitt Panthers will get right back to it and host the Perquimans Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Hopefully North Pitt focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, North Pitt lost to Ayden - Grifton on the road by a decisive 68-53 margin. North Pitt has struggled against Ayden - Grifton recently, as their match on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Keymauri Brooks, who scored 17 points along with two steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamarcus Pippens, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Perquimans earned a 59-48 win over North East Carolina Prep on Friday. That 11 point margin sets a new team best for Perquimans this season.
Perquimans relied on the efforts of Jalyn Nelson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Nyquan Riddick, who scored 19 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Riddick has scored all season. Shavoris Lewis Jr. was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds.
North Pitt has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-18 record this season. As for Perquimans, their win bumped their record up to 5-15.
