After flying high against the Armuchee Indians two weeks ago, The Darlington Tigers came back down to earth. Darlington was dealt a 42-14 loss at the hands of Trion on Friday. Darlington was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Trion apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Toby Maddux was his usual excellent self, rushing for 261 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry, and also picking up 54 receiving yards. Maddux was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kade Smith, who threw for 103 yards and two touchdowns.
Darlington's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Trion, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Darlington will head out on the road to face off against Whitefield Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Whitefield Academy's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three games. As for Trion, they will be playing at home against St. Francis at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Francis is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
