McLaurin simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Discovery Christian 58-25 on the road. Given McLaurin's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Discovery Christian is ranked 277th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Michael Wallace was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists. The contest was his tenth in a row with at least ten points. Isaac Davidson was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
McLaurin is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Discovery Christian, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McLaurin will take on Puckett at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Puckett is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Discovery Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Sylva Bay Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
