Basketball Recap: Challis Comes Up Short

After flying high against North Gem last Thursday, Challis came back down to earth. The Challis Vikings fell 57-46 to the Salmon Savages on Saturday. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Savages recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Challis lost, don't look at Jacen Farr. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Farr's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Ollar, who posted eight points and four steals.

Salmon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Britton Hanson, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 20 points and six rebounds. Those 20 points gave Hanson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Broc Matthews, who put up 14 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Challis' defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Salmon, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-7.

Challis will welcome American Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Salmon, they will venture away from home to square off against North Fremont at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Salmon is facing North Fremont at the right time seeing as North Fremont is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
