Smithtown Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah McCarter, who scored 16 points. The contest was McCarter's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nehemiah Yuen, who scored 13 points.
Center Moriches' win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Smithtown Christian, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-1.
Center Moriches will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Southampton at 6:15 p.m. on January 3, 2024. As for Smithtown Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Bridgehampton at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
