The West Jefferson Buccaneers lost against the Chalmette Owls back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. West Jefferson was beaten by Chalmette 35-6. West Jefferson has not had much luck with Chalmette recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chalmette to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaden Williams, who rushed for 40 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 36 receiving yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Couvillon, who threw for 77 yards and two touchdowns.
West Jefferson's loss was their 12th straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their record down to 1-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-1 St. Paul's and 8-2 Archbishop Shaw (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 58.5% over those games). As for Chalmette, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
West Jefferson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Chalmette will look to defend their home field on Friday against Ponchatoula at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Louisiana (Ponchatoula is ranked 48th, while Chalmette is ranked 59th).
