After a string of five wins, the Covington Buccs's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 51-40 to Miami East. While losing is never fun, Covington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while Miami East is ranked 34th).
Katie Paulus was a one-man wrecking crew for Miami East as she scored 26 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Paulus has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacqueline Kadel, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Covington's defeat dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Miami East, their victory was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-0.
Covington will challenge Franklin Monroe at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Franklin Monroe comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. Miami East does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
