After a string of eight wins, the Vienna Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 69-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Goreville. Goreville was led to victory by Breanna Suits and Abby Compton. Suits scored 21 points along with eight assists and five rebounds, while Compton dropped a double-double on 32 points and 11 rebounds. Compton hasn't dropped below 16 points for 11 straight games. Another player making a difference was Kyndall Webb, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Vienna's defeat dropped their record down to 22-7. As for Goreville, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 27-3 record this season.
Vienna will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Anna-Jonesboro is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. Goreville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
