The Eastmoor Academy Warriors will venture away from home to square off against the Groveport-Madison Cruisers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Eastmoor Academy has seven straight victories, Groveport-Madison has 12 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Eastmoor Academy had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 19-run drubbing they dealt Africentric Early College on Friday. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 20-1 margin over the Nubians. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Mario Blount and Savion Watts were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Blount pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Watts pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At bat, Blount went a perfect 4-for-4 with six stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while Watts scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Watts is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last 11 games he's played dating back to last season.
In other batting news, Jeremiah Douglas was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Damario Whitson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Eastmoor Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .718. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Groveport-Madison's offense. They came up short against Lancaster on Wednesday, falling 10-0.
Eastmoor Academy pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.9 runs over those games. As for Groveport-Madison, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Eastmoor Academy's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's contest. The Warriors have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 12.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Groveport-Madison, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Eastmoor Academy continue to outrun the ball?
Eastmoor Academy suffered a grim 17-4 defeat to Groveport-Madison in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
