The Steinbrenner Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Sumner Stingrays at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Steinbrenner's pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so Sumner's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Steinbrenner took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over Durant. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won three in a row.
Lilly Patton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hanna Goggan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Fortenberry, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sumner). They blew past Strawberry Crest 19-4 on Tuesday. The Stingrays might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 14 runs or more this season.
Juliet Sederio was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Victoria Rudolph was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Sumner hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Steinbrenner's record now sits at 6-3. As for Sumner, their record is now an identical 6-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Steinbrenner hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Sumner struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
