After flying high against the Pender Patriots last Friday, the East Bladen Eagles came back down to earth. East Bladen received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 72-58 to West Columbus. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
West Columbus found their leader in underclassman Larry Graham, who scored 19 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Jaylen Bellamy was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with three steals.
East Bladen has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. As for West Columbus, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.
East Bladen will look to defend their home court on Friday against Heide Trask at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Heide Trask's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 matchups. As for West Columbus, they will head out on the road to challenge South Columbus at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Columbus is on a five-game streak of home wins, West Columbus a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
