The Roosevelt Roughriders will square off against the Timnath Cubs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Roosevelt's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Northridge with a sharp 11-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Roughriders in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won six in a row.
Stevie Kreimier was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kreimier was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Derek Martinez looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Dalton Baudino, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Bryant, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI.
Roosevelt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northridge only posted an OBP of .158.
Meanwhile, Timnath made easy work of Poudre on Monday and carried off a 7-0 win.
Poudre's batters probably weren't too happy with Dane Wyman, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (he gave up zero walks).
At the plate, Brodyn Pafford was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Caden Poynter, who earned two runs and one stolen base.
Roosevelt's victory bumped their record up to 19-1. As for Timnath, their win bumped their record up to 14-7.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Roosevelt hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .407. However, it's not like Timnath struggles in that department as they've averaged .332. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Roosevelt's way against Timnath when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Roosevelt made off with a 12-1 victory. Will the Roughriders repeat their success, or do the Cubs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
