The Basic Wolves will face off against the Green Valley Gators at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Basic had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Cheyenne on Wednesday. Basic blew past Cheyenne 3-0. The Wolves not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 27th.
While Basic won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-17, 26-24.
Among those leading the charge was Luke Dennett, who had 14 assists and three digs.
Meanwhile, Green Valley faced Silverado in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Green Valley came out on top against Silverado by a score of 3-1. The victory continues a trend for the Gators in their matchups with the Skyhawks: they've now won four in a row.
The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-16, 23-25, 25-22.
Green Valley's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Basic, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Basic has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 4.5 aces per game. However, it's not like Green Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.3 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Basic couldn't quite get it done against Green Valley in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Will Basic have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
