The Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They walked away with a 44-37 win over Bridgeport. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Buckhannon-Upshur also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Buckhannon-Upshur was led to victory by Alyssa Abel and Casadie Lahman. Abel scored 17 points along with two steals, while Lahman almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Abel scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Hodge'nay Henderson, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Buckhannon-Upshur's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-11. As for Bridgeport, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
Buckhannon-Upshur's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. As for Bridgeport, they will head out on the road to take on the Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in University's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten matches.
