The Immaculata Spartans will challenge the St. Mary Gaels at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Immaculata knows how to get  points on the board -- the  squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully St. Mary likes a good challenge.
On Saturday, Immaculata blew past West Side, posting  a  48-8 win. The Spartans' offense checked out after the first half but had enough  points banked to take the game anyway.

 Daysir Spille was  his usual excellent self, rushing for 154 yards and three  TDs on only seven carries. Immaculata is undefeated when  Spille posts two or  more  rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Another rusher making a difference was  Brian Cilento, who rushed for 62 yards and one  touchdown on only six carries.
 They were just one part of a punishing run game: Immaculata was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 303  rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their  rushing yard total in four consecutive  matchups.
 Immaculata didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of  Aiden Thompson and  Quinn Hayden.
 Meanwhile,  there's no place like home for St. Mary, who bounced back after a  loss on the road  two weeks ago. They snuck past Garfield with  a  26-20 victory on Saturday.
 Immaculata's win was  their third straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 7-2. The  road  victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 46.3 points over those games. As for St. Mary, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
 Immaculata beat St. Mary 49-40  when the teams last played  back in November of 2024. Do  the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gaels turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
