Shohfi caught nine passes for 197 yards in the 56-21 loss, giving him 2,464 yards for the season. That total tops the previous national record of 2,427 yards held by Cody Cardwell of Stephenville (Texas), set in 1998. Shohfi also caught 122 passes with 29 touchdowns.
Shohfi had a tremendous postseason. He caught 54 passes for 1,130 yards in the playoffs alone, including 282 yards in the Central Division championship game against Charter Oak (Covina, Calif.) and 232 yards against Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.) in the Small Schools Open Division regional playoff game.
Shohfi finishes his career with 5,052 yards, according to his stats on MaxPreps. That total ranks No. 2 all-time in California behind Canyon Country's Drew Wolitarsky, who had 5,148. Shohfi also ranks No. 13 nationally all-time, according to stats compiled by MaxPreps.
Shohfi ranks second all-time in California in receiving touchdowns with 61. Earvin Johnson of Cathedral (Los Angeles) is No. 1 with 66, according to Cal-Hi Sports.
