Softball Recap: South Wins Going Away Against West

South won the last time they faced West and things went their way on Thursday too. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over the Vikings. Considering the Spartans have won six games by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Scarlett Lopez made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Lopez was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Zowey Estrada was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with seven RBI, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jaslyn Chavez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

South hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 5-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The win made it two in a row for South and bumps their season record up to 9-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for West, they dropped their record down to 5-9 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

South didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 22-2 win against East Bakersfield on the 8th. As for West, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, an 11-6 loss against Foothill on the 8th.
