Marine City is 1-9 against Richmond since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Marine City Mariners will head out on the road to face off against the Richmond Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Tuesday, Marine City was beaten by Port Huron 83-53. Marine City has not had much luck with Port Huron recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Liam Adams, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Adams is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Jonathan Hand was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Richmond's 22-3 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were dealt a 72-34 loss at the hands of Yale on Friday. While losing is never fun, Richmond can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 429th, while Yale is ranked 59th).
Marine City's defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-5. As for Richmond, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Marine City took a serious blow against Richmond in their previous meeting back in March, falling 75-33. Can Marine City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
