The Poplarville Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher  on Tuesday after their tenth straight  loss. They fell  55-47 to Greene County. The  defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Poplarville in their matchups with Greene County: they've now lost four in a row.
 Poplarville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Janiyah Jones, who  scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Aleah Bester, who  scored 11 points.
 Greene County was led to victory by  Rakhiya Moody and  Kam Lawrence.  Moody  scored seven points along with six  rebounds and six  steals, while  Lawrence  dropped  a double-double on 12 points and 15  rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points  Lawrence has scored all season.  ShaNya McLeod was another key contributor,  scoring 13 points.
 Poplarville has  not been sharp recently as the team's  lost 11 of their last 12 contests,  which put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season. As for Greene County,  the  victory  got them back to even at 14-14.
 Poplarville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Greene County will be staying on the road  on Thursday to face off against Bay at 4:00  p.m.  on February 8th. Bay will roll in looking for their  15th straight  win, something Greene County surely won't give up without a fight.
