Chickasha has gone a perfect 7-0 against MacArthur recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Fighting Chicks will look to defend their home field against the Highlanders at 5:00 p.m. Chickasha's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so MacArthur's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Chickasha's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Pauls Valley 10-0. Considering the Fighting Chicks have won 12 contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Tyson Owens and Layton Bryan made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Owens pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bryan didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Owens has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in 11 consecutive appearances. At bat, Owens got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Bryan went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That's the most hits Bryan has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lane Johnson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Lane Jay was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but MacArthur ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Altus, sneaking past 6-5. The victory continues a trend for the Highlanders in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.
The win made it two in a row for Chickasha and bumps their season record up to 22-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for MacArthur, their win bumped their record up to 18-14.
Chickasha came out on top in a nail-biter against MacArthur in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 5-3. Do the Fighting Chicks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Highlanders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
