Cottonwood proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 13) but last Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Samson and snuck past 12-10. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.
Cottonwood got a massive performance out of Ty Nodd, who went 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Karlee Lott was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 4-for-4.
Geneva's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-11. As for Cottonwood, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Geneva skirted past Cottonwood 8-7 in their previous meeting back in February. The rematch might be a little tougher for Geneva since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
