The Pequannock Golden Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 104-38 loss at the hands of Morris Catholic. While losing is never fun, Pequannock can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Morris Catholic is ranked first).
Morris Catholic's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mia Pauldo, who shot 5-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten assists. Pauldo has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last four times she's played. Mya Pauldo was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with seven steals and five assists.
Pequannock's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Morris Catholic, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 23-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pequannock will face off against Villa Walsh Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Villa Walsh Academy's defense has only allowed 28.9 points per game this season, so Pequannock's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Morris Catholic, they will head out on the road to challenge Long Island Lutheran on Saturday.
