Louisburg and Bunn are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Louisburg Warriors will be home for the holidays to greet the Bunn Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Louisburg was able to grind out a solid victory over J.F. Webb, taking the game 53-41.
It was another big night for Ronald Kearney, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jamareon Strickland, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Bunn scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They walked away with an 81-69 win over Thales Academy Apex. The win was just what Bunn needed coming off of a 61-37 defeat in their prior matchup.
Jameir Strickland continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. That makes it eight consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Bunn's points. Domantea Cooke was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with three steals.
Louisburg's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Bunn, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Louisburg have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 29 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Bunn struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 18.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Louisburg didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Bunn in their previous matchup on December 1st, but they still walked away with a 39-34 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Strickland, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds.
