The Glendale Vikings are taking a road trip to square off against the Harmony Area Owls at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Glendale has given up an average of 11.6 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Glendale came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against West Branch, falling 12-4.
Glendale saw ten different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Levi Hamilton, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. John Taylor also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Harmony Area came into Thursday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against Penns Manor on Thursday as they made off with a 16-8 victory. The Owls' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Parker Maseto and Hunter Pearce made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Maseto struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off eight hits. Meanwhile, Pearce tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Maseto went 4-for-5 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Pearce got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. That's the most runs Pearce has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Maddox Hugill was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Trevor Hugill, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Harmony Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The win was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 2-8. As for Glendale, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.
Glendale came out on top in a nail-biter against Harmony Area in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 12-11. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
