After a string of seven wins, the Northampton Yellowjackets's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell to Nandua 70-65. Northampton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Nandua apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played last Tuesday.
Despite the loss, Northampton still got an impressive performance from Ronyell Coston, who scored 27 points along with six rebounds. Coston hasn't dropped below 20 points for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Quayshawn Washington, who scored 15 points along with seven steals.
Leading Nandua to victory were JaQuan Thomas and Ny'Zir Dix. Thomas dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds, while Dix scored 23 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Makai Dorn, who scored eight points.
Northampton's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5. As for Nandua, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season.
Northampton will be playing at home against Norfolk Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Northampton is coming into the contest with three straight losses at home, meaning Norfolk Academy will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for Nandua, they will head out on the road to challenge Chincoteague at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nandua is facing Chincoteague at the right time seeing as Chincoteague is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
