If the Licking Valley Panthers were riding high off their 67-39 takedown of the Lakewood Lancers last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Licking Valley was the victim of a rough 68-46 loss at the hands of Fairfield Union on Wednesday. Licking Valley lost against Fairfield Union in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 49-43 score last time.
Licking Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gunner Bowman, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Kamden Walker, who scored six points along with nine assists.
Licking Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Fairfield Union, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Licking Valley will be home for the holidays to greet Sheridan at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Fairfield Union will be home for the holidays to greet Hamilton Township at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hamilton Township has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 174 points over their last three contests.
