AAAAAA Region 7 recap November 5, 2013
C.J. Leggett of North Gwinnett ran for the longest rushing play in AAAAAA Region 7 this season against Mountain View last week. Leggett scampered for 82 yards on the play and finished with 193 on the day as his team topped the Bears.
Peachtree Ridge was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting Meadowcreek. The Lions came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
North Gwinnett's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. John Urzua threw for 178 and 3 touchdowns and Almonzo Brown had 93 yards receiving. On the ground Leggett contributed 193 yards. Caleb Scott helped North Gwinnett's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 45 yards.

Leggett was a passing and rushing force as the Bulldogs bested Doug Giacone's team. Leggett's favorite target this week was Brown, who caught 3 passes for 93 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, North Gwinnett's Hayden Sphire and Nate Brown have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-1 quarterback Sphire has thrown for 1,820 yards this season, while Brown has 44 catches for 765 yards. Peachtree Ridge's Jordan Ellis leads the league in rushing yards with 1,200.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between the Bulldogs and Mark Fleetwood's team. North Gwinnett comes into the matchup ranked second in the state, while the Lions ranks 24th.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Bulldogs' Brown goes up against Peachtree Ridge's Walden Davis.
Going into this week's contest against the Lions, North Gwinnett's Sphire needs 180 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
Next week's game between the Bulldogs and Peachtree Ridge will feature a good passing match up as Sphire will test his arm against Davis' defensive ability.
The league will see a high scoring game when North Gwinnett and the Lions face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Bulldogs comes in having scored 379 this season, while Peachtree Ridge has scored 319. North Gwinnett scored 40 points last week as it defeated the Bears.
Mill Creek took down Habersham Central 61-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
