The Calhoun Red Devils will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Van Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Calhoun and six for Van.
Last Tuesday, Calhoun came up short against Doddridge County and fell 50-40. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Calhoun in their matchups with Doddridge County: they've now lost eight in a row.
Defeat or not, Calhoun got some senior leadership from Landon Bennett and Owen Taylor. Bennett dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 steals, while Taylor. scored 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Bennett also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Dylan Buckius, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and five assists.
Meanwhile, Van was beaten by Calhoun 78-41 on January 5th.
Calhoun has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Van, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-7.
Everything came up roses for Calhoun against Van when the teams last played on January 5th as the team secured a 78-41 win. Will Calhoun repeat their success, or does Van have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
