It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Adair Warriors had no problem doing just that on Friday. They strolled past Sperry with points to spare, taking the game 44-30. The win was familiar territory for Adair who now have eight in a row.
Cale Winfrey continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 265 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.3 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 126 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Winfrey really tore up the turf during one magnificent 79-yard run. Another player making a difference was Reece Jackson, who rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
Sperry's loss came despite strong showings from Brady Benham and Landen Brooks. Benham rushed for 176 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.0 yards per carry, while Brooks rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns. Brooks hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games.
Adair's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. As for Sperry, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
Adair will square off against Vian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Oklahoma (Vian is ranked 80th, while Adair is ranked 88th). Sperry does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
